COVID-19 pandemic
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared COVID-19 a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC). Based on this Health Canada is permitting manufacturers to communicate to the public regarding the expected efficacy of certain market authorized disinfectant drugs against this emerging viral pathogen.
SARS-CoV-2; the virus attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic is an enveloped virus. In most cases, while such viruses are easily transmitted, enveloped viruses can be more easily deactivated compared to other more robust viruses, like non-envelop viruses (e.g. Poliovirus type 1, etc.).
SANIXPERT has demonstrated efficacy against both enveloped (non-robust but easily transmissible viruses) and non-enveloped viruses (more robust viruses that are usually harder to transmit than enveloped viruses).
